FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Sri Lanka travel — your questions answered

Yes. Sri Lanka is considered a safe destination for international travellers. Standard precautions apply — keep valuables secure, respect local customs, and follow the advice of your guide. Our local team monitors conditions across the island and adjusts itineraries if ever needed.

Sri Lanka has two monsoon seasons that affect different coasts. December to March is ideal for the west and south coasts and the cultural triangle. May to September suits the east coast beaches and the highlands around Nuwara Eliya and Ella. We tailor each itinerary to the seasons.

Most nationalities need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival. The online application takes a few minutes and approval is usually issued within 24 hours. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your entry date.

Seven to ten days gives you a rewarding taste of the island — the cultural triangle, a day or two in the hill country, and a few nights on the coast. Fourteen days lets you add wildlife safaris, deeper hill-country exploration, and more beach time without rushing.

Absolutely. Every Extensive Ceylon itinerary is crafted around your interests, pace, budget, and group size — from solo travellers to multi-generation family trips. Share your wish list and our team will design a bespoke plan within a day or two.
